Pecan nuts originate from Americas where they used to be a staple in indigenous tribes, such as the Algonquin from whose language they draw their name.
Now adopted worldwide, they are used in desserts such as pies, cakes or candied with caramel, but they can also be used as a nice source of proteins and healthy fats for vegetarian dishes: in salads or with roasted vegetables but also as a crunchy coating for tofu.
